Each evening, the silvery celestial cynosure in the glittering backdrop of the night sky gives us a show. It is ever-changing and no two succeeding shows are alike. For it waxes and wanes from a delicate sliver of luminescence to a radiant full orb bursting from the heavens. It is a reminder that just like the phases of the moon, we are all subject to the ebb and flow of life. We are all bound in cyclical change as life is constantly evolving. Whether we like it or not, this is something we cannot control. Just like the changing of the seasons, the evolution from life to death or the steady marching of time from morning to night, it is the very essence of life.
The moon shows us that we all go through phases of darkness and light. If we are at the stage of life full of triumphs and success, celebrate and cherish it. But if we find ourselves in a period where life is an uphill battle, it is a foundation of life lessons that will only make us stronger in the end. The only way to deal with it is to go through it. We will eventually come out on the other end with wisdom in tow. The moon also reminds us to honor our own energetic flow. There is a time for action, and a time for rest. There will be moments when you are brimming with energy, bright and glowing like the full moon, ready to take action for the world is teeming with possibilities. Other times you are weary with the daily doldrums of life, and just like the new moon taking respite under the darkness of the night, your obscurity is your relief. Listen to your body, take rest if you need to. The phases of the moon is also a beautiful reminder that everything in life is fleeting. For each illuminating transition, showcasing its own inimitable beauty and wisdom, will not last for as long as we like. It carries a profound lesson in the impermanence in life. Each precious moment should be relished and appreciated as it is wondrously unique. The magic of the moon is surrendering to the here and now and living fully in the present moment.
